Elementum

Prologue -

element |ˈeləmənt| - Earth, Air, Water, Fire are the root elements of this world. Light and Darkness are elements of a different nature, being a fundamental part of guiding the root elements to there full potential. These elements do not have definitive lines of what behavior is confined to that element. Instead they can be smeared into one another to create new forces, new powers and new skills. Out of these main elemental powers have risen leaders of great stature known as the Viongozi. But power is a corrosive force, corrupting even the most pure of intentions.

The Viongozi began of humble means, walking the land without shelter or a sure place to rest their head. They watched over the people ensuring peace and security for their mother element. Taking an oath of need, they were to live without much means and depend on the people they were to care for. For many years these leaders were of good standing, selecting by hand the next generation and training them in ways of the Viongozi. Hundreds of generations of the Viongozi upheld peace and balance within and between all elements. In time people began to build temples of grandeur in their honor. Not only ensuring a place to rest their head but allowing them to relax in luxury. But as more power and compliance by the people was given to the Viongozi, the more they began to dominate and put into subjection what was in their care.

The people began to suffer under the deference's in their supremacy. Elements began to rise up against one another, putting up borders and separating themselves from one another. Feuds broke out and turned into full out wars, famine and poverty shook the lands. The Viongozi realized that they had little or no control of what the people of their element were doing. A stronger method was needed to be used other than what they had to bring back control. They all began to realize that they were stronger together than working apart, and so decided to join forces within their element to govern the people under one rule. They became known as The Rialú. Each element chose one of them to represent them and to give them complete control over the people of each element. But the Rialú of each element became permeated with corrupt power using it to benefit who they saw fit. They became dictators of each element, forbidding the mixing of elements. The people began to long for the days of the Viongozi... and this is where our story begins.
